The First Time

The First Time was instigated to explore the Khoisan culture and their reaction to the white man landing on their shore in Elands Bay.
The film explores the ancient art of compassion and beauty of first time experiences. It is a tale told around the campfire trying to capture the essence and rationalist of a small family living on the Southern tip of this dark continent in the 15th Century.

It was an incredible honor to work with 83-year-old !Gubi (his bloodline stems from one of the oldest families of the San people) and his son Johannes, who shared their knowledge with the team and whose calm demeanor and humble ways inspired the filmmakers to make a beautiful picture.
